Rainy days can be a drag for outdoor activities with your furry best friend, but that doesn't mean sacrificing play and bonding time with your pup. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, there are plenty of fun indoor activities to keep your pooch entertained and engaged on a rainy day. In this blog post, I'll share my favorite activities to do with my own pups - using items found in my house!
First up, teach your dog the "find it" game. Hide treats or toys around the house and encourage your pup to find them using their sense of smell. Praise and reward them as they search. "Find it" is not only a great way to keep your pup entertained, but it also improves cognitive function and strengthens your bond with them.
Next, make a treat puzzle out of an old towel or socks to provide your pup with a fun and stimulating activity that challenges their problem-solving skills. Fold a towel into a square, place treats or kibble in the center, and tie the ends together to create a bundle. Your pup will then have to work to unravel the towel and find the treats hidden inside.
Third, create a "whack-a-mole" game out of a cardboard box. Cut holes in the top, leaving the side open for your hand. Push a favorite toy or long treat through one of the holes and switch holes each time your pup goes for it. This game improves hand-eye coordination and provides exercise and mental stimulation.
Lastly, practice your dog's trained behaviors to reinforce their training and maintain good behavior. Regular practice sessions can solidify commands in your dog's mind and keep them mentally stimulated.
Don't let rainy days ruin the fun with your furry bestie! Get creative and have a blast with these fun indoor activities that use items you already have at home. Let me know which activities you try and which one your pup enjoys the most!
